Food You Can’t Bring Into Korea

Food You Can’t Bring Into Korea

Vietnam has livestock diseases such as African swine fever, so luggage from Vietnam is checked closely at Korean quarantine. Bringing in banned items without declaring them can mean a fine of up to 10 million won.

Not allowed

  • Jerky, sausages, ham and other processed food containing meat
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables such as mango and durian

Usually fine

  • Sealed coffee, tea and chocolate
  • Packaged snacks such as roasted nuts and dried fruit

If you’re unsure about an item, declare it on the customs form and have it checked at the quarantine counter. For the latest rules, see Korea’s Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA).
